FileList Professional version 4.41
designed and compiled
by
Wang Yumin
What's So Different In 4.4x and 4.3x Versions?!
Version 4.41 is a minor bug-fix version with some new features.
Version 4.40 is major bug-fix version with a few newly added features.
Please read this file on the updates and also FLPRO.DOC if neccessary in case
you miss anything.
Versions 4.3x are a series of major update and bug-fix versions.
Legend: + notes
* new feature
o bug fix
----
Version 4.41 compiled and released on 30 May 1992
+ Official Release Version
o In 4.40, all files will be marked "New" in the all files list. This bug is
fixed.
* Added -$[x1,x2..] command in the "General options" section. If this option
is present, FLPRO will exclude areas #x1, #x2 and so on from processing.
eg. -$2 to exclude area 2
-$1,3,7,10 to exclude areas 1,3,7,10
Allows up to 20 areas to be excluded from processing.
o Fixed the small display bug in help screen. Some words were missing.
+ Shortened the intro-screen display time.
o Now FLPRO won't abort the process if you are adopting unlisted files in an
area w/o FILES.BBS .. FLPRO will automatically create a new files.bbs with
the files adopted according to adopt control file (if stated).
----
Version 4.40 compiled and released on 28 May 1992
+ Public Alpha-Test version.
o FLPRO will multi-sort more properly. In the previous version, if too many
spaces are found in files.bbs, errors may occured.
o Handles multi-line descriptions more properly in new files lists. Won't
list these descriptions if the main line (filename line) is not listed.
* FLPRO will now display "\" rotating to indicate that it is in process so
that you will know if the system has hung or whatever. Also good when
your HDD has not "Reading light" or you're running from remote and is
unable to know if the program is running or not. However, this feature
now only applies to "General options".
* New "introduction" screen. Shows a big word of "FLPRO" to make the program
looks better (or worse? :-) .. this may be slow, thus, +FAST parameter can
be used to skip this screen. The display should be take only about 1.2s
* Re-arranged help screen. Spaces added in between topics to prevent confusion.
* The structure of AREAS.INI is provided in FLPRO.DOC now so that users not
using RemoteAccess can use FLPRO as well with AREAS.INI, a plain ASCII
text file which has structure of Fido12's message and file areas config file.
----
Version 4.33 compiled but not released.
+ Private Beta and Gamma Test version
* The program will run faster than before while using the "General options".
Changed some file reading routines.
* The users may now use "unusable-characters" in the uploader's name list
format. The so-called "unusable-characters" are characters like |<>: which
can't be used in batch files or on the dos prompt. Simply put \#\ on the list
format and \#\ will be replaced with ASCII character #. Example :-
in batch file: flpro /us@ \124\Uploaded by #\124\@
in files.bbs : filename.ext [ 0] description |Uploaded by My Name|
----
Version 4.32 compiled and released on 20 Mar 1992.
+ Public Alpha-Test version.
o Bug fix. FLPRO used to abort itself when you is not able to access a path.
Now FLPRO will simply skip that path and continue the processing. Example,
when a user download a file in a file-attached-message, the temp path
would be deleted but still listed in the log file.
o Bug fix. If ONE file is isolated from the rest of the files in files.bbs
by a space, the space MAY be removed by FLPRO after running FLPRO /R option
(sort alphabetically). Now its fixed with new features, read below.
* Now there are 3 sorting methods that can be used optionally. by using just
FLPRO /R or FLPRO /RN, it will sort the same way like all previous versions,
this is called the STANDARD SORTING or NORMAL SORTING. If you use FLPRO /RR,
this is called RAW SORTING, FLPRO will ignore all remarks and sort them
together with the files (just like what DOS' SORT.EXE does, note that this
may cause all descriptions and files to mix together). Another one is
FLPRO /RM, known as the MULTI-LINE-DESCRIPTIONS-AWARE SORTING METHOD. All
lines that starts with 20+ spaces will be treated as a multi-line description
and will be sort together with the file before it.
o Bug fix. Previously, FLPRO was unable to find filenames of lower-cases
while processing download counters and uploaders name. Now it can.
o Bug fix. After version 4.31, download counters/uploaders names are not
able to be run together with the other options.
----
Version 4.31 compiled and released on 10 Mar 1992.
+ Version 4.31 is just a minor-update version.
o Bug fixed for adopt file option. Didnt work when files.bbs filenames are
not capatilised and also, wont run if no control file specified. Its now
fixed.
o Bug fixed. When both filename and description are short, sometimes the
description may be erased leaving only the filename in files.bbs after
process. Its now fixed.
* New Feature. Search for UnWanted Strings in file descriptions with
configurable "TrashCan" control file. Read DOC on its usage.
* Rename original log files to ??????02.??? instead of RA2.LOG after download
counters update or uploaders name update process. eq. RA.LOG -> RA02.LOG
FILENAME.EXT -> FILENA02.EXT, BBS.LOG -> BBS02.LOG.. This is done as to
reduce chances of using the same filenames.
----
Version 4.30 compiled and released on 8 Mar 1992.
o Major bug fix for download counters option. Previously unable to process
short directory names and exit the program abnormally. Now able to process
all kinds of directory names under 8 characters.
o Fixed bug for adopt-file option. Sometimes adopt files that are listed in
do-not-adopt control file. Now fixed, doesnt adopt files that contains
keywords listed in do-not-adopt control file.
o Used to display `Use 0 logfile' which should be `Use "compact" logfile'. It
is now corrected to prevent confusion.
* New option to remove all download counters from files.bbs. Useful when SysOp
wants to reset all back to zero or to clean up the file lists.
* Configurable header design using header control file. With use of keywords,
SysOp may design his own header with flexibility.
o Limits control file to 10,000 lines.
o Limits adopt-file-list to 32,000 files.
o Used to have problem with certain files.bbs structure which will make FLPRO
exit abnormally. This bug is fixed by checking filename/description length.
